When i was younger i was considered at my school a tomboy. At the time i didn't quite know what a tomboy was but i agreed. I never was friends with the boys at my school and all my friends were called "girly" so i was a little confused. I guess i mainly dressed in sports T-shirts and jeans, and most of the boys in my class dressed the same. My hair was normally in a ponytail, and when i was in 3rd grade i got a pixie haircut. But in 4th grade my style started to evolve into bleached jean jackets, and leggings with skirts. The tomboy label ceased existence for me to reach the level of almost "girly".
Sometimes i don't get these labels. There both manly based off of how you dress. Wearing causal comfy t-shirts and jeans are considered boyish whatever that means. And wearing skirts and more uncomfortable clothing is reaching the girlie section. It confuses me. Why does this matter so much. I did an experiment where i searched up popular clothing stores with both boys and girls clothing. I noticed for one that boys clothing were in mostly Blue Black Green and Red. Girls clothing where in mostly Purple Light blue Pink and Yellow. I also noticed that the boys clothing had rockets and math and science printed on then while girls had flowers and stripes:

From lands end in the boys tops
(Check LandsEnd out)
Don't get me wrong i love LandsEnd and allot of there clothing is great but do you see the difference? This isn't good. This is way these labels come up. It's not that these labels are bad. When you go into a store and you see that this is how girls and boys are supposed to dress then some kids might think this is how they have to dress. NOWAY!!! Dress how you want to dress.
Have a great afternoon- LuLu
